President's Welcome

Welcome to the Froebel College of Education where we offer a distinctive student-centred learning experience, in partnership with the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. Froebel College is named after  the 19th century German educator, and founder of Kindergarten,. Friedrich Froebel (1782 - 1852). He advocated reverence for the child, learning through activity, exploration of the environment, enjoyment of beauty in all its manifestations and acceptance of the gifts of each individual.

At Froebel College of Education, undergraduate and post graduate students find a rich, vibrant, innovative and intimate academic experience. For many students, the transition to third level education can be a challenging one; however our small group teaching model combined with ease of access to staff and student-support services work together to ensure that every student has the best possible chance of success. We are renowned for the providing a holistic experience for students and it is for this reason that we have high levels of retention and progression.

We believe in the unlimited potential of our students and we take pride in seeing our students realise this potential and surpass even their own expectations. We understand how education can transform lives, how it can empower and open up new opportunities.

Froebel College of Education offers an education that supports students in their intellectual development as well as their social development and as an institution it encourages active citizenship throughout a student's college experience. Froebel College of Education combines academic scholarship and theoretical knowledge with practitioner experience to deliver practice-based learning that is grounded in real world contexts. We also offer students unique opportunities to develop their leadership skills through their direct involvement with each other and with staff in co-curricular activities from sport to the arts to community service on and off campus.

We believe our students should reflect the diversity in our society and through a range of access initiatives we are committed to widening access to third level education.

I invite you to peruse our website to see the excellence that we have to offer, I am thrilled to be part of a College community that is talented, dedicated, and caring.  I know you will be, too.

National University of Ireland Maynooth

The University logo was developed to express all aspects of the University, past, present and future. It is based on classic heraldic imagery and it combines four images reflecting the University's historical roots and challenging future. The yew twig and castle refer to the medieval origins of Maynooth, and the role, played by the FitzGerald family in the founding of Maynooth and its University.
