GAA Club

Froebel College's GAA club has been active since 2003 and now participates in inter-college competitions in Ladies Football, Camogie, Football and Hurling. Our ladies footballers have often played against larger colleges with distinction, twice reaching the semi-final of Corn Donaghy, most recently in 2009. The Men's football team were narrowly defeated in the semi-final of the Div. 3 competition, Corn na Mac Léinn during the Centenary Sigerson Semi-final weekend in UCD in 2011.

We fielded our first Camogie team in 2008 and have since won the Div 3 Fr. Meachair Shield twice in 2010 and 2011. Our hurling team began with a challenge game against Marino in April 2010 and later that year we reached the final of the Leinster Colleges Freshers 7's tournament. We lost by a point to ITB in the Leinster Colleges Non-elite Hurling Championship in March 2011, and are now also entered in the Div. 4 All-Ireland Colleges championship.

The GAA club is a thriving part of Froebel College, and our part-time Games Development Officer, Colm Mac Séalaigh is a key figure in its success. All students are welcome to participate in training panels regardless of previous experience, and we're also proud of a number of our students who've achieved inter-county success across all four codes.

Pilates

Pilates classes are held every Thursday in the college.

Environmental Society

The environmental society plays a very active role in the life of Froebel College. The society aims to promote environmental issues around the college in an interesting and entertaining way. Every year the society holds many events and trips and this year an overnight trip to Bundoran has been planned. This promises to be a great weekend away at which many adventure and outdoors activities are planned.

Earlier this year potatoes were sewn (in the garden), picked and washed in Froebel and a potato day was held at which everyone in college got the chance to sample the fruits of all the hard work! The environmental group is an extremely energetic society which meets regularly; just keep an eye out for notices around the college. Everyone is invited to join!

The Drama Society

The drama society since its foundation in 2008 has gone from strength and is now a recognised society with the support of Trinity College. The society aims to improve ones own dramatic ability focusing on such techniques as facial expression, voice projection etc. The society is invaluable to the college as drama is a curriculum subject in Primary schools and so any extra practice or improvement of skills is of great importance. The society offers a large range of activities and holds a number of shows and plays throughout the year. The society has just finished another successful run in the Mill Theatre with it's own production ‘Baile Bán and Beyond'.
